Eldersville United Methodist Church (EUMC) has been serving the
community of Eldersville, Pennsylvania since 1829. Worship is celebrated
every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. (8:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. during the summer).
Holy Communion is shared the first Sunday of each month and is open to everyone.
EUMC is a small "country" church that values family and community. Sunday
worship attendance in 2005 was 83. Special
Sundays are celebrated to acknowledge the contributions of our "family" to our
church home and to the tri-state (PA, WV, and OH) area. Worshipers travel
from Avella, Burgettstown, Eldersville, and Paris, PA., Colliers, Follansbee and
Weirton, WV and surrounding areas.
Children are welcome and invited to participate during worship.
There is a special children's message each Sunday, as well as activity bags and
childrens bulletins. A staffed nursery is offered for children up to 5 yrs
of age during the 10:30 a.m. service. A small crying room at the rear of the
sanctuary is available to parents who prefer to remain with their young children
during worship.
EUMC is a Safe
Sanctuary, which means that all of our staff, that works
with children (teachers, assistants, pastor, nursery staff...) have had both a
criminal background and child abuse hotline check.
On June 4th our pastor Rev. B.T. Gilligan graduated with a Masters of Divinity
from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Rev. Gilligan was then appointed to Harrisville UMC to
begin on July 1, 2011. We wish him well in his new Pastorate.
On July 1st our new pastor, Jim Sands, will begin his duties at EUMC.
Pastor Jim has been part of the United Methodist Church of Carmichaels his entire life.
He was involved with Pastor-Staff Relations, Trustees, Sunday School, Youth Ministry and even
spent time as a custodian. He served in the public school system as a substitute teacher
for seven years in two school districts. For the last seven years he has been the manager
of a small pizza restaurant in Waynesburg. Jim and his wife, Kristen, were married in 2006
and are expecting their first child in October. Please come and join us in welcoming Pastor
Jim and Kristen to our church family.
