Eldersville United Methodist Church (EUMC) has been serving the
community of Eldersville, Pennsylvania since 1829. Worship is celebrated
every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. (8:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. during the summer).
Holy Communion is shared the first Sunday of each month and is open to everyone.
EUMC is a small "country" church that values family and community. Sunday
worship attendance in 2005 was 83. We have an active children's choir and
encourage active participation of children and adults in worship. Special
Sundays are celebrated to acknowledge the contributions of our "family" to our
church home and to the tri-state (PA, WV, and OH) area. Worshipers travel
from Avella, Burgettstown, Eldersville, and Paris, PA., Colliers, Follansbee and
Weirton, WV and surrounding areas.
Children are welcome and invited to participate during worship.
There is a special children's message each Sunday, as well as activity bags and
childrens bulletins. A staffed nursery is offered for children up to 5 yrs
of age during the 10:30 a.m. service. A small crying room at the rear of the
sanctuary is available to parents who prefer to remain with their young children
during worship.
Sunday School begins at 9:15 a.m. Classes are offered for
all of God's children. Pre-school - Kindergarden; 1st - 3rd Grade; 4th -
5th Grade; Youth; and 2 Adult classes. Average S.S. attendance in 2005 was
40.
EUMC is a Safe
Sanctuary, which means that all of our staff, that works
with children (teachers, assistants, pastor, nursery staff...) have had both a
criminal background and child abuse hotline check.
Our pastor is Rev. Dana M. Hiles. Rev. Hiles was
appointed to EUMC on July 1, 2003. He has been serving in parish ministry
since 1998. He was previously the pastor of Amity UMC from 1998 - 2003.
Rev. Hiles is a 1989 graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance, OH. He
has attended seminary at Evangelical School of Theology in Myersdale, PA and
United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. Prior to entering the ministry
he was employed as an insurance claims adjustor. Dana is married to Jenny,
and has two children, Noah and Cassidy.
