Dartball Teams Take 2007-08 Championship!
The 2007-08 season proved to be a long one
for EUMC The team finished last during the regular season with a record of
14 - 61 (just one year from having the best record in 2006-07). Conflicts
with dartball and teammate athletic/work schedules made each week difficult.
15 players may have been available one week and the next, only 7. But they
kept with it, entering the end of season playoffs as the 6th seed.
The 2nd season of dartball (playoffs) proved
a different story. EUMC started the best of 5 1st round against #3 Hickory
and fell behind 2 games to 1. Facing elimination in game four, down by 3 runs
in the 9th inning Casey Drake led off with a HR and then 92 yr. old Woody Jackson
tossed a 3 run HR to win the game. EUMC then won game 5 eliminating Hickory
Presb.
In the 2nd round, EUMC faced 1st place Trinity
Prsb., and with 2 9th inning wins, won the series 3 games to 1.
The best of 7 championship series was against
#2 Midway Prsb. Midway chose to host games 1-3, with EUMC hosting games 4-7
(as necessary). Eldersville took the first 3 games in Midway, and then closed out
the series and the championship with a win in game 4 at home! Completing the
worst to first scenario.
After going almost 25 yrs without a trophy,
EUMC has now taken home three 1st place trophies in the past 4 years.
